Cape Tribulation is a beach oasis that is located to the north and east of the Daintree Rainforest in far north Queensland. It’s a real beauty that almost feels secluded from the rest of Australia. It does take quite the trek just to get there (see the self-drive tour from Port Douglas).
For those wanting to spend more than a day in this tropical beach getaway, there are actually quite a few decent hostels that make it possible, some right on the beach or as far down as Cow Bay (staying here will make for a great excuse to stop at the Daintree Ice Cream Company on your drive north).
The price for hostels in this area can range from the ultra-budget $10 for a bed to $80 for a room, and the seasons and day of the week will also make a difference. I would recommend booking ahead if heading to this part of the country since you are a ways out of the bigger cities and will have to take a fair journey — through winding roads — to get out of the area.
