Tim Smith Grenache Mataro Shiraz 05′, Barossa Valley.
Omigosh! Let me say that again. Omigosh! I realize that is not proper wine speak and I don’t claim to be a wine expert, however, it sums up the initial feeling that the wine created. Spicy, it completely coats the tongue with pepper and cinnamon. Make sure you get that nose in the glass! It has a lush heady nose that leaves you breathless wanting more (cheesy I know but true none the less). The finish leaves you with ripe cherry, plum and a vanilla/cardamon flavor. A world class boutique wine- but if you can find it- GO FOR IT!
Served at the Apothecary in Adelaide. It was undoubtedly one of the nicest wines I have experienced in The Land Down Under. The Apothecary has just been voted as having the Best Wine List in South Australia so I imagine that is a pretty good endorsement to back mine up. Cheers!
Another excellent wine at the Apothecary was the JJ Hahn Cabernet Sav. 02′, also from the Barossa.
So the Barossa isn’t Hawaii, but here’s a link to take you there!
