Going to be near Armidale Friday October 27-29th? Ready for some laughs? Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club is hosting the Armidale Women’s Comedy Festival!
With titles like “What the Frock do we know…Now,” The festival features several local women along with national acts. The main events are Friday and Saturday with the Gala Comedy show Saturday at 8:00 pm. Sunday sees a few nippers (kids) give stand up comedy a go along with a Kids Comedy Circus. The evening shows look to be adult oriented but certainly Sunday looks to be a family friendly event. Tickets range from $12 each to $55 for a festival pass. Put on by Regional Arts and Regional Flagship events- it promises to be full of laughs!
Armidale is a spunky middle sized country town. It has the University of New England so there are loads of things to do. the downtown is supper cute and there are heaps of national parks as well as cultural and historical things to see. Built basically between two hills the main part of town sits in a lush valley. Be careful- Armidale is at quite a high elevation- the nights can be quite cool. The scenery of the area is beautiful. Information on nearby accommodation and other attractions in the area- see www.armidaletourism.com.au
There are tons of little motels in town along with many Caravan parks. The Club Motel is right in the heart of town, near grocery shopping, the park, the main mall and Wicklow’s pub. Moderately priced reasonable accommodation. 105-107 Dumaresq Street 02 6722 8777
Wicklow’s Pub. AWESOME!!! they had 2 really nice gourmet choices that were gluten free. Food was phenomenal, the chef extremely friendly, bar staff attentive, Huge big screen TVs to watch sport, and the atmosphere was very relaxed.
The Red Peg Cafe of Cinders Lane! Awesome little Internet Cafe! Coffee was good- staff helpful and most importantly- They had Internet! An extremely pleasant place to spend some time. Indoor and outdoor seating, menu looked and smelled appealing.
