Alex and Marko, winners of My Destination's Biggest Baddest Bucket list are on their 6 month journey around the world and are making a stop here!
A few months ago, the online travel community was on fire with thousands of travel videos promoting the favourite destinations of hundreds of hopefuls from around the world. My Destination's Biggest Baddest Bucket list competition was one of the biggest, bestest travel marketing campaigns ever run and its success quite evident by the number of people who applied – hundreds of videos from over 80 destinations. Wowza. The challenge was to create a 3 minute video promoting your favourite destination in the world, using whatever equipment you wanted, from whatever angle.
I myself was one of those hopefuls and the experience was one I'll never forget. I loved putting the video together and I was blown away by the tremendous support I received from Barbadian's near and far. I tried to blog about it as much as possible so as to keep everyone up to date with the competition and though it saddened me to tell people that their hardcore voting didn’t reap the results we had hoped for, I was just as excited to live vicariously through the Top 10 Finalists.
I blogged about my personal favourites and was delighted to see that Californian brothers Alex and Marko had made the cut. Their energy, on screen persona and passion for travel jumped out at you from the screen. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re pretty darn cute. Sure enough, they were declared the winners of the Biggest, Baddest Bucket list in June this year. I knew that both brothers were well on their way around the world but I didn’t realise that they had a little surprise in store for us until I got a phone call from My Destination Barbados. Alex and Marko could choose any 25 destinations in the world they wanted to and lucky for us, they chose to visit our little rock as part of their journey! That’s right…the Bucket list brothers are doing Barbados! Arriving this Saturday, July 27th they will be flying, diving, sailing, driving, eating and surfing their way through Barbados for six days finishing with a foreday morning jump and a 5.30am check in to fly out.
The My Destination Barbados team from Miller Publishing have invited me and my friend Sheena to help host the brothers and introduce them to the people and places that make Barbados so special. Stay tuned for a step by step itinerary that is planned for the Vaga Brothers!
