Jenni Baird recalls luxury in Monaco, a hellish road trip and provides a travel tip.
WHICH WAS YOUR BEST HOLIDAY?
Either my babymoon in Jamaica in 2008 or a 2011 trip to Tulum, Mexico. Jamaica was paradise on Earth; we stayed at a tiny boutique resort that had its own private beach and fabulous high tea overlooking the ocean every afternoon. Tulum also had pristine water and those awesome Mayan ruins on the beach.
AND THE BEST HOTEL YOU'VE STAYED IN?
Hotel de Paris in Monaco. I was there for the Monte-Carlo Television Festival so they paid for everything. It was ridiculous. The service was incredible and the design was gorgeous - the entrance is gilded, there are chandeliers everywhere and marble floors - it was like being in Versailles.
WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS TAKE WITH YOU?
My pillow. It sounds geriatric, but if I sleep on the wrong pillow I can be in all sorts of pain.
WHAT'S YOUR BEST PIECE OF TRAVEL ADVICE?
Always ziplock everything in your toiletry bag. I learnt the hard way when I had something like Bio-oil leak over my entire bag.
WHICH WAS YOUR WORST EXPERIENCE ON HOLIDAY?
When my parents drove me and my three siblings from Sydney to Brisbane when I was 12. I spent the 10-hour drive wedged between my two younger brothers. Hell.
WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO NEXT?
The Rock of Gibraltar, a monolithic limestone outcrop on the Iberian Peninsula in Europe, which is dominated by adorable Barbary monkeys.
