During the holiday season, Disneyland Paris spares no expense in capturing the Christmas spirit as Main Street plays host to spectacular Christmas parades, stunning decorations and even the odd snow shower.The Christmas Market, located in Disney Village, is jam-packed full of festively-themed souvenirs and sweets, whilst the warm and inviting cafés are ready to welcome you in from the cold with the promise of velvety-smooth hot chocolate and mouth-watering pastries. Visitors are also encouraged to soak up the festive joy and sing along to the cheerful carols that are played throughout the park.
Upon entering the park, guests will see that Sleeping Beauty’s iconic castle has been transformed into a glittering ice palace. Taking to the Royal Castle Stage is Disney Studios' new heroine, Rapunzel - star of their latest film 'Tangled', which is a brilliant and unique twist on the much-loved fairy tale we all know so well. The new Disney Princess is sure to give guests a royal welcome as they make their way through the resort to begin their Christmas adventure.
Lucky travellers may also bump into Mickey, Minnie, Woody, Buzz and more of their favourite characters along the way, who will all be dressed in fantastically festive costumes. Those who do not manage to meet all their favourite characters need not worry however, as they are sure to spot princesses, heroes and villains alike in 'Disney’s Once Upon a Dream' parade. The parade has eight fantastic and colourful floats, each split into two sections. Each half depicts a much-loved Disney tale, from Alice in Wonderland to The Lion King. The parade can be seen at regular intervals throughout the day and takes place along Main Street.
But it is Christmas after all and Christmas simply wouldn't be complete without seeing Santa Clause! After a busy day of rides and shopping, families can catch the 'Dreams of Christmas' parade, which takes place shortly after the 'Once Upon a Dream' parade. Little ones will watch with amazement and let out a festive cheer for Santa as he leads the parade with his sleigh and travels along Main Street with his energetic elves, who skip and dance around with giant presents.
Another of the Christmas season's must-see attractions is Santa's Village, where you can marvel at the striking Christmas decor before taking eager and excited children to visit the man himself and tell him what they want for Christmas. While you're in the village the whole family can make their very own wish list and drop it off at the Post Office. You won't have to wait long to see if you get what you asked for!
Those wishing to do something extra special during their stay can buy tickets for 'Mickey's Magical Christmas Dinner'. On three selected dates, guests can enjoy a buffet-style Christmas feast with Mickey and the gang. Spaces are limited and fill up very quickly so guests are urged to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Making a return for its ninth season is 'Mickey’s Winter Wonderland' show. The marvellous musical remains a firm favourite for Christmas fanatics and is great for the entire family. Although the show is a bit of a trek off the beaten track, it is still highly popular as guests flock to see Mickey, Donald Duck and their friends take to the ice rink in a captivating show full of festive fun, laughter and romance. The show takes place between three and five times a day but, due to its amazing popularity, guests are advised to arrive at least half an hour early to make sure they get a seat.
Even after the sun has set on this glorious winter wonderland, the Christmas Holidays Disneyland Paris celebrations continue. The Tree Lighting Ceremony is a true sight to behold as Mickey and Minnie invite one very lucky little boy or girl to open the magic Christmas book that lights up the tree. After this enchanting ceremony the Fantillusion festival begins and the park comes to life once more as a million twinkling lights illuminate Sleeping Beauty's castle and its surroundings. Mickey and his friends then take to the streets with their show-stopping 3D extravaganza - 'Disney Showtime Spectacular Celebrates Christmas'.
No matter what age you are, Disneyland Paris has ensured that there is something for everyone to enjoy this Christmas. The season starts on the 7th of November and runs for two months, giving families everywhere plenty of time to make sure they’re part of the festive fun. There is a whole host of Christmas-specific activities too, as well as Disneyland's year-round magical delights.
