Chartres is close enough to Paris to make an easy, fun day trip. But it’s a charming town in and of itself, and if you’re looking to get out of Paris on a quick overnight without a lot of schlepping, Chartres is a great choice. I’ll have more details on Chartres soon, but for now, you’ll definitely want a hotel that’s close to the Cathedral – so here are my choices:
You know I’m always going to have a good old reliable Ibis on the list. They’re clean, comfortable, they’ve got good breakfast, and there’s always free WiFi.
This is built on the site of a former monastery, and it kind of feels like it – you’ll want to say Grace before breakfast in the gorgeous, sunlit stone room. And rack rates start at €42/night, so it’s a great deal.
You literally could not be closer to the Cathedral unless you sleep inside of it – and it’s absolutely adorable to boot. The quintessential French bed & breakfast. J’adore!
