The Umbrian town of Assisi isn’t as big as the region’s capital of Perugia, but because of the famous saint who bears the town’s name – St. Francis of Assisi – it’s been a popular site for pilgrims as well as tourists for a very long time. There are many options for accommodation in Assisi, but if you’re on a budget you’re probably more interested in the ones classified as hostels rather than hotels.
Keep in mind that many of the places listed as “hostels” on the map below are technically budget hotels – they may have some dorm-style rooms offered very cheaply, or they may just be steeply discounted from the rest of the hotels in the area.
