There are some places that set themselves up well for “top 10″ lists.
Italy is not one of them. Not by a long shot.
In most of the big tourist destinations, trying to squeeze all the best sights down to a meager ten is nigh unto impossible if not entirely ridiculous. And even in some of the off-the-beaten-path stops there are often more than 10 things that could be considered must-do items.
So why have I given in and done a few top 10 lists for different places in Italy? Because, for one thing, I know that’s how many people like to plan their trips – and I am to please. For another, however, it was kind of a fun challenge in a couple of cases to try to limit myself to only 10 things on a list. I could easily have turned the more difficult ones into “top 15″ or “top 20″ lists, but that wouldn’t have been a challenge!
Here, then, are my top 10 lists for Italy (in alphabetical order by destination).
It’s quite likely that I’ll do more of these eventually, so check back if you like what you see so far!
