Where to stay in Warsaw – a neighborhood guide

A sprawling modern city, Warsaw caters to every traveler – whether you prefer the personal service of a boutique hotel in the Old Town or the privacy of an apartment in the creative district of Praga. Stay within walking distance of exciting Warsaw attractions with a room in the city center, or soak up the quieter atmosphere in the park district of Lazienki. 

City center

 

Staying in the city center puts you within walking distance of many of the top sights, including Warsaw Uprising Museum to the west, the shopping street Nowy Swiat to the east, and attractions like the Palace of Culture and Science right in the heart of the city.

The central district is where you’ll find many of the top international hotel chains, including both four and five star establishments. There are also plenty of hostels for budget travelers, particularly around Wilcza.

 

Old Town

 

Get lost in the cobbled alleys and dreamy squares of the Old Town. Staying here also puts you within easy reach of the area’s many cafes, restaurants and independent shops, plus sights of the city center including the Grand Theatre, Royal Castle and numerous museums and art galleries.

Lazienki

 

Featuring the lush greenery of Lazienki Park, this district is a pleasure to explore. Attractions include the spectacular Palace on the Water, the Chopin garden and the White House. Lazienki is also a short walk from city center attractions like Constitution Square and the Royal Route.

To make the most of Lazienki Park, choose an apartment building or hotel overlooking the lawns and lake. There aren’t many hostels in the area, but you can find friendly bed and breakfasts to the south.

 

Praga

 

Recently blooming in popularity to become one of the trendiest areas of the city, Praga boasts an artistic vibe and some of the oldest buildings in Warsaw. Worth a visit is the 17th century Church of Our Lady of Loreto, St. Florian’s Cathedral and the Fabryka Trzyciny Art Center.
