Eating out in Ibiza can be quite an adventure with many venues and locations to choose from. Being a multicultural haven, it is easy to find gastronomic delights from around the globe. Most restaurants are concentrated in the towns but our beach-front locations are also spectacular. Rural alfresco dining is also very popular at the many boutique hotels and roadside cafes.
Ralph BehnkeMy Destination local expert onIbizaAlthough the island doesn't have its own traditional cuisine, it does have certain dishes best prepared with Ibiza produce. Tapas are a traditional Spanish snack, served both hot and cold and consist of a wide variety of appetizers. Served on a piece of bread, they were originally used to cover your glass between sips, to prevent fruit flies from hovering. Rice & potato dishes combined with either meat or fish are a main staple of the Spanish diet, Paella being a renowned example of this. Paella can be ordered at most Spanish restaurants accompanied by a mixed salad and served with bread & alioli.
As the capital of the island, Ibiza Town is bursting with all sorts of bars, restaurants, cafes & bistros. Nevertheless, be sure to climb the cobbled streets up to the old town (Dalt Vila) where you will find some of the islands' oldest restaurants and quirky bars.
