Family Friendly Attractions in Las Vegas

TIME : 2016/2/24 10:29:05
It’s easy to assume that Las Vegas, so full of decadent casinos, is simply an adults' playground. But this diverse city is actually a wonderland of family-friendly activities, whether your kids like theme parks, amazing animals, or mind-boggling science.

Theme parks

Vegas is speckled with theme and amusement parks that are sure to get the kids brimming with excitement - and who knows, you may want to take a whirl on the rides too.

Adventuredome

Open year-round, this magical indoor amusement park will make your kids go wild. Set beneath an immense glass dome - tinged with pink to add a cartoony twist - Adventuredome features eye-popping thrill rides, including a dizzying double-corkscrew roller coaster and an extreme sling-shot free-fall ride. There are rides for juniors, and heaps of attractions for the whole family, including mini golf and a carousel.

Museums

It’s not always easy to get kids interested in the arts and sciences, but Las Vegas’ selection of child-friendly exhibits are sure to entertain and intrigue.

Discovery Children’s Museum

This fun-filled museum is home to themed exhibitions aimed at introducing younger kids to the wonderful worlds of science, history, and culture. The array of hands-on exhibits - which range from mini-engineering challenges to fossil-finding games - will ignite your kid’s love of learning, and parents shouldn’t be surprised if they learn something new as well.

Bodies: The Exhibition

The squeamish may want to brace themselves: this attraction displays real human bodies, dissected, preserved, and arranged in a manner of quirky positions - each giving you a unique and never-before seen 3D insight into the wonders of the human body. Startling, educational, and unforgettable, this surreal exhibition is a must-see - but it’s probably one for slightly older kids.

Wonderful wildlife

Las Vegas is surrounded by bountiful wildlife and beautiful nature - like the Springs Preserve and the Red Rock Canyon Conservation area - but if you want to stay within the city, check out this family favorite.

Shark Reef Aquarium

You may be in the middle of the desert, but Vegas won’t stop you from seeing spectacular sea life. Based in the Mandalay Bay resort, this huge aquarium houses cute catfish, alien-like octopuses, and plenty of sharks. Unlike other aquariums, Shark Reef also displays enormous sharp-toothed alligators and Komodo dragons. With thoroughly descriptive plaques for each exhibit, your kids will also learn a lot.

Even the pickiest eaters are bound to find something they like from the vast menu, which shows off a farm-to-table edge. Kids and adults alike will love this friendly restaurant’s sage-fried chicken and blueberry-pecan pancakes.
