The main regions that make up the island of Oahu each boast their own unique selling points that attract visitors of all ages and interests. From the bustling and world-famous Waikiki, to the natural beauty of the Leeward coast you’ll be spoilt for choice when choosing accommodation on the island. With short distances between each of the regions, day trips to main attractions are a great way to explore outside of your chosen base.

Honolulu

The state capital of Honolulu offers plenty of activities and a glittering nightlife, much of which can be found in Waikiki, the island’s main hotel and resort hub. Hotels near the busy Kalakaua Avenue allow guests to step right out on the main strip to enjoy a huge array of top-class restaurants and shopping. The turquoise waters of Honolulu’s south coast should please beach lovers, and if you fancy getting active there are plenty of surf schools that will have you riding the waves like a pro in no time.

There is plenty of family-friendly accommodation in Honolulu, including relaxed resorts along the south coast. Competition between the hotels is high so ensure you shop around to find a good deal, although Waikiki hotels are often more pricey due to the volume of visitors yearly. Those after a bit of luxury need look no further with many five star residences to choose from.

Central Oahu

Home to Hawaii’s most historical site, Pearl Harbor, Central Oahu attracts visitors from across the world who wish to see the five sites which pay homage to the events of World War II. A quieter region than its neighboring Honolulu, Central Oahu is perfect for those wanting to have a good base for exploring the island, without the hustle of the city.

You’ll also find a variety of cosy B&BS and guesthouses, perfect for those wishing for home comforts without the price of the more upscale city hotels.

Leeward Coast

The relaxed atmosphere and stunning scenery of the Leeward Coast attracts those who are keen to explore the local area and enjoy nature. There are plenty of chances to enjoy the great outdoors with vast golf courses, local hiking trails, and water sports. Daily boat cruises depart the marina throughout the day and give visitors the chance to explore the coast of Oahu.

The 43-acre marina within the Ko Olina resort area is home to many high-quality hotels with fine dining restaurants, such as the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa, but also has more budget friendly options, with beachfront condos and villas to rent.

North Shore

Visitors often describe the region of North Shore as a very authentic Hawaii location. Featuring endless beaches, quaint towns and pineapple plantations, North Shore is the place to be if you want to discover the local way of life. The home of big wave surfing, the relaxed vibe is contagious and provides the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing trip.
