The Museum of Science and Industry isn’t located on the Museum Campus like the Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and Adler Planetarium. Rather, it’s about seven miles south of the city in Hyde Park.
There are several options for getting to the museum from the Magnificent Mile area. The #6 bus runs down State Street every 8-15 minutes. It stops at Hyde Park and 56th Street; from there you can see the museum, just across the grassy lawn. The #10 Museum of Science and Industry bus also makes the trip from Michigan Avenue to the museum’s door.
From Millennium Park, the Metra offers another convenient option. Hop on at the Randolph Station (Randolph and Michigan) and you’ll be there in 14 minutes. If you’re crunched for time or are planning your visit during times when traffic will be heavier, the Metra ensures you’ll arrive on time.
