Day Spas in Hawaii: Ku'uleilani Day Spa

TIME : 2016/2/25 15:09:11

I first heard of Ku’uleilani Day Spa via a group buying deal which featured a 2 hour spa package for less than $100. Although I was slightly hesitant to book the deal since I hadn’t heard of the place before, I couldn’t pass up the price. After giving it a try, I am so glad I found this hidden gem!

The spa is located on the second floor of the Pan Am Building, which is just outside of Waikiki near the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Once I arrived to check in, I was greeted by Ku’uleilani herself, as well as a few of the therapists who were in the reception area. I was offered iced water with lemon or tea while I completed a brief questionnaire about my medical history and concerns for my treatments.

After checking in, clients are led to one of cozy treatment rooms, which all feature an appropriately dim interior with calming music playing over the stereo. My massage therapist did an excellent job of working out my knots with a swedish-style massage that also blended sports massage techniques since I mentioned that I’m a runner. Her 15 years of massage experience definitely show in the skill she has with her massage. Next, I was greeted by a licensed esthetician who did a mini facial for me, including a soothing cucumber eye mask and a brown sugar foot scrub. Products used during the treatments are all organic and locally made whenever possible.

The spa has a great variety of massages (including lomi lomi, hot stone, and more) and facials geared to different skin types. I also noticed an interesting detoxifying kava body wrap on the menu. Many add on options (such as a morrocan oil scalp massage or a vitamin C masque) were offered during my treatments, so I will have to go back to try some of those. The best way to experience Ku’uleilani Day Spa, in my opinion, is to book one of their special packages, which combine massage, facial, and add-on treatments for a lower price, giving you a full day spa experience without draining your vacation budget.

My favorite thing about this spa was the little touches – the professionalism of the staff, the organic cookies and fresh strawberries in the “relaxation lounge” for after your treatments, the use of local and organic products, and the overall atmosphere of calm projected throughout the cozy space. It’s definitely worth looking into if you would like to treat yourself to some pampering while visiting Honolulu.
