Mendes Ranch – Hawaii covers over 3,000 acres on the island of Maui, the second largest Hawaiian Island known for white sand beaches and lush tropical foliage. The working cattle ranch sits on the north side of Maui in the Iao Valley near the village of Wailuku, an agricultural area away from bustling Lahaina. Guided horseback rides cross trails through grassy meadows, tropical rainforests and along the rugged sandy coastline.
All ages and levels of experience are encouraged to participate in the horseback riding adventure offered by the Mendes Family Ranch. The guided trips traverse for two hours meandering across serene farmland, into a rain forest with views of the thundering Waimoku Falls and up cliffs to view spectacular ocean scenery and look for whales.
The guides are trained horsemen and cattle ranchers (paniolos) who help select the appropriate horse for each rider and narrate details about the terrain and history of the ranch during the trip.
