Las Vegas isn’t necessarily a city of debauchery and hungover walks of shame. In fact, the city can be charming, fun and even appropriate for Mother’s Day.
Moms are lucky, really. Visitors who come to Las Vegas in May are treated with warm weather, sunshine and long days. Most of the pools are open, and attractions and shows are gearing up for the summer rush … but it’s not too busy yet! If you’d like to visit Sin City for Mother’s Day, do what you can to book your airfare to Las Vegas in advance and make reservations at a hotel. Since you’ll be treating your mom, consider staying in one of the classier hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.
Start your Mother’s Day off right with a hearty Vegas brunch. You can opt for a buffet spread or splurge on something a little fancier, such as what you’ll find at Simon in Palms Place. Most restaurants in Las Vegas offer some sort of breakfast special, often with mimosas or champagne. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your own pace before heading out onto the Las Vegas Strip for the day.
Depending on what Mom is interested in, you might want to spend the rest of the day on the golf course or in the casino. If you’re looking for a variety of things to fill your day (or weekend), then hit up some of the fun attractions on the Strip. The Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens are decked out for the spring, free and open to the public. If she wants to turn the weekend into something a little more cultural or educational, consider checking out an exhibit or museum like Bellagio’s Gallery of Fine Arts.
After playing for a bit in Sin City, treat your mom to some much-deserved pampering. Every resort in Las Vegas has a spa, and some of them may offer specials for Mother’s Day. If not, go for one of the signature treatments, which differ from spa to spa. These head-to-toe treatments ensure that Mom leaves feeling relaxed and ready to hit the town at night.
Stop by your hotel room for a power nap and to freshen up for the evening, and then it’s time to find dinner. If your mom appreciates fine dining, make a reservation at one of the finer restaurants on the Strip, such as the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas or Top of the World Restaurant, located at the top of Stratosphere.
After dinner, book it over to your Las Vegas show of choice. Your options here are practically endless, so choose whatever Mom would like best. If she’s into acrobatics and impressive performance arts, a Cirque du Soleil show might be the right choice. If she wants to laugh, consider something along the lines of Penn & Teller. For something showy, dramatic and unforgettable, go with Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular or Le Reve.
Before you call it a night for good, grab a cocktail or a cup of coffee and take Mom to see the Fountains of the Bellagio. It doesn’t get much better than this … especially when you’ve just spent the day with someone as important as your mom.
