If your Las Vegas plans include catching a show or two, it’s not a bad idea to consider your options before you arrive in the city. There are countless shows at all times of the year, and regardless of how you go about buying tickets, you’ll always be able to snag tickets to something, but if there’s a particular show you want to see, you have some options on how to go about buying your tickets.
Tickets in Advance
Some shows are so popular that you absolutely need to buy tickets when they are released. If you know what you want to see and when you’ll be in town, don’t take chances. You can either purchase tickets through the resort that houses the performance space or through an online ticketing venue. You may have to pay extra fees when purchasing through a third-party venue, but that’s a small price to pay compared to the peace of mind that comes with knowing your tickets are in hand en route to Las Vegas.
On-Site Box Office
Most theaters have a box office located right outside of the performance space. Hours vary for these box offices, but for the bigger, more popular shows, it is often possible to buy tickets throughout the day for the shows that night. Your seating selection might be minimal because those who purchased in advance had first dibs, but this gives you an opportunity to gauge what you’re feeling like on any particular day before committing to a specific show. You’ll pay regular prices for tickets sold through the box offices.
Discount Tickets
Every day of the week, people line up at Tix 4 Tonight to purchase discounted tickets for shows that have not sold out. Ticket prices are half what you would pay at the box office. There won’t be tickets available for every show, and, especially on holidays, weekends or during the high season, pickings can be on the slim side, but if you aren’t picky about what show you’ll see, then this is a good last-minute option. There are ten locations near the Las Vegas Strip, the most popular of which are at Fashion Show Mall, the Hawaiian Marketplace, the Showcase Mall, 4 Queens Hotel near Fremont Street Experience and Circus Circus. Show availability is posted at 9:30 a.m. and tickets go on sale at 10:00 a.m. (except for in the Fashion Show Mall, where the booth opens at 11:00 a.m.).
No-Show Ticketholders
If you want to see a sold-out show, you can still arrive at the box office right before the show is set to start and find out if there are any ticketholders that didn’t turn out for the performance. If there are any tickets to be released pre-show, you’ll likely pay full price for the show and may have to wait until an act or two into the performance before you’ll be let in to find your seat, but you could end up with a great seat at the show you really wanted to see.
