Even with all of the world-class and local food options available in Las Vegas, chain restaurants are prevalent and mainstream. That’s one of the reasons I like to support the mom-and-pop, locally owned eateries that are also available in Las Vegas, even if they don’t get the recognition they necessarily deserve.
One of these places is Chill, a frozen yogurt shop on the western side of the city that embraces its name. Open since May 2010, Chill is simple in design and inviting for people with its minimal decor, clean interior and fun furniture. It is owned and run by Ilana Vann, a local Las Vegan who wanted to create a comfortable place for her family to relax. In the process, she did an incredible amount of research about frozen yogurt in order to provide customers of Chill with the highest quality product.
Only two of the frozen yogurt flavors come with traces of high fructose corn syrup (unfortunately, one of those is cookie monster, which I thoroughly enjoy). It also has more live and active cultures, which means you can justify eating at Chill as a healthy alternative to other dessert options. At any given time, guests can choose from ten different flavors, which vary and range from razzie pomegranate and chillin espresso to Tahitian vanilla and a non-dairy sorbet option. There are more than 40 different toppings to choose from, including a variety of candy toppings (candy bars are cut up daily), fresh fruit and sauces.
Chill runs on a pay-per-ounce format ($.38/ounce), so feel free to mix and match flavors and add as many toppings as you’d like. The shop is located off of interstate 215 at 3555 South Town Center Drive, Suite 103, so you’ll need your own transportation to reach it, but the drive is worth it. Chill is open from 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. daily.
