Basketball fans will enjoy a new attraction that opened April 2009 at Planet Hollywood called the Hoop Hall Experience.
A creation of the Basketball Hall of Fame, it is an interactive museum split into five zones:
Bounce – Utilizing a winding line of video screens, this area is a multi-media showcase of images from the game.
Timeline – This is where you’ll find memorabilia exhibits from basketball, starting with the story of Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of the game, all the way up to the present day icons of the sport.
Pep Talks – This room highlights the coaches via video clips of speeches and games.
Greatest Moments Theater – This room features more memorabilia, video screen highlighting clips from classic games, and the HHX Wall of Fame that spotlights every inductee into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Big Shots Theater – An interactive area of the exhibit that not only features a film of unforgettable moments from basketball history, but interactive games testing your knowledge of the sport. There’s also an area where one can be filmed providing a play-by-play for a famous game and take home a DVD of the experience.
The whole HHX experience ends in the Circle of Steel gift shop where you can purchase basketball related merchandise.
The HHX attraction includes tributes to the NBA, NCAA, TEAM USA, WNBA, International and even the Harlem Globetrotters.
Hours for the Hoop Hall Experience are 10am to 9pm daily, and the exhibit is scheduled to run for three months. Of course, that could extended if attendance warrants it.
Tickets are $24.50 for adults and $17.50 for kids, with discounts for seniors and Armed Forces members. They can be purchased at Planet Hollywood‘s box office up to an hour before closing.
