A look at what’s new, what’s changed and what’s happening in the near future with all of the shows in Vegas:
- Several Vegas magic shows were recognized at the World Magic Awards, held Oct 13th in Los Angeles. Hans Klok was named Magician of the Year for his show at Planet Hollywood. Pamela Anderson, who co-stars with Klok in the show, was named Assistant of the Year. Mac King won the Best Comedy Magic Award for his long-running show at Harrah’s, and Rick Thomas won for Best Illusionist. Congrats to them all! Further proof, if you want magic, Vegas has it.
- Speaking of Hans and Pamela, their show, The Beauty of Magic, is set to close on December 8th, since the contract was not extended by Planet Hollywood. The bottom two levels of tickets have also increased in price from $39.90 and $71.40 to $50.40 and $81.90. To offset that, Ticketmaster is running a buy one-get one free ticket offer online, with special offer code KFOG, from now until December 8th. It should be noted that Hans is now doing a meet-and-greet immediately following the 10pm shows, and this is free with your paid ticket to the show. Your ticket stub is also good for 20% off at Planet Dailies Restaurant in Planet Hollywood.
- Defending the Caveman celebrates Oktoberfest by performing the show in German this Saturday, October 20th at 3pm. Karsten Kai, star of the show in Germany, will be joining the cast for this special show. Defending the Caveman is performed at the Golden Nugget downtown, and tickets for this special performance start at $40 a person. I’ve been told, though, that they are going to honor the Las Vegas Advisor coupon for that show. The coupon, available at the LVA website, gives a 50% discount on the ticket to site members.
- The game show craze has been sweeping TV for a while, so why not Vegas? A new show at the Las Vegas Hilton, hopes to lure in ticketgoers with the promise of a chance to win cash and prizes. The $250,000 Ultimate Game Show opened on October 8th, and is hosted by three TV game show legends: Bob Eubanks, Chuck Woolery and Jamie Farr. The three hosts rotate hosting duties during the week, with shows at 1:30pm Mondays through Thursdays and Saturday, and an additional 3:30pm show on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The show is dark on Friday and Sunday. Tickets are $51.20.
- The Scintas have also settled into their new home at the Las Vegas Hilton. You’ll find Laugh Out Loud with the Scintas in the Shimmer Cabaret Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday through Sunday at 9:30pm, with an additional show at 2pm on Mondays. The show is dark on Thursdays. Tickets are $59.95.
- The American Storm male review show has closed at the Riviera. The subject of a VH1 series, the show was conceived by one of the founders of Thunder From Down Under as a companion show on the Strip, but with American men instead of Australian. No word if it will resurface elsewhere in town.
