Perched on a high knoll, Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard could
almost be a hilltop Tuscan villa but for the view of Mt. Hood
looming in the distance. And, of course, for the fact that the inn
was completed about a year ago. Presiding over the Yamhill County
wine country ― and its own 12-acre vineyard ― the
luxurious, seven-suite inn is a welcome addition to an area where
impressive lodgings have been scarce. Inside, follow gleaming
mahogany corridors and a curving stairway to suites appointed with
Old World-style armoires, beds with silky-smooth linens, and large
private baths. Take in original art and vistas of Cascade peaks,
conifer groves, and hazelnut orchards. Awake to breakfast prepared
with locally farmed ingredients by executive chef Kris Utz ―
a culinary school grad and son of innkeepers Neal and Karen. For
dinner, head just 2½ miles to the town center for a memorable
meal at Tina's, the Dundee Bistro, or Red Hills Provincial Dining.
