Lake Powell summers are hot, with a July average high of 97 and low of 71; the best months for recreation are April, May, September, and October. At any time of year, dehydration and flash floods are potential hazards. Always check the weather forecast and carry plenty of drinking water, especially when canyon hiking.

Lake Powell and the extravagantly sculpted canyon country surrounding it provide a world of recreational opportunities ― from thoughtful to thrilling. Most outfitters and suppliers for the lake's southern half are in Page, at the southwest edge of the lake.
